A case for support.
Are people with disabilities like you and me?
Should people with disabilities be able to speak
up like you and me?
Should people with disabilities have the same
rights as 'normal people'?
Should people with disabilities be able to go to
school and to have a career like 'normal people'?
Should people with disabilities dream of making
their mark in the world like 'normal people'?
Maybe, just maybe, people with disabilities are
'normal people'. Maybe they should have rights, go
to school, be employed, speak up and make their
mark in the world. Maybe people with disabilities
should be considered valued and contributing
citizens.
And maybe they are. Today.
But it wasn't always that way. The fight for rights,
for inclusion, for participation, for a voice, for a
dream has been long and difficult.
Today, people with disabilities in Alberta enjoy
the opportunity for a bright future.
It's My History, Too! is a story of the triumph of
the human spirit are we want you to tell it.
